Rodrigo Garcia Valiente (ESR1; AMC)

Early Stage Researcher

Rodrigo García Valiente comes from Spain. He holds a Licentiate in Biotechnology and a MSc in Bioinformatics. For the last two years he has worked in the Cancer Research Centre of Salamanca as a Specialist in Genomic and Proteomic Analysis and Diagnosis. His interests are very diverse, from computational modelling and multivariate analysis to science popularization. Due to his role as Vice President of the Spanish Federation of Biotechnologists and as project manager in several biotech initiatives he was awarded in 2014 as one of the 100 world youngest promises in the biotechnology sector by the think tank Global Biotech Revolution.


His background is multidisciplinary; he has been involved in different projects, from the design of a lab-on-chip in the Iberian Laboratory of Nanotechnology of Portugal, to the study of molecular alterations in colorectal tumors in the Valdecillas Research Institute of Santander to the integration of multi-omic data in the Cancer Research Centre of Salamanca. As part of his NGO work, he has organized several popularization events, projects and courses, and was involved in the nomination of 2014 as the Spanish Year of Biotechnology.
